Haley Ruiz '23 is utilizing her education from St. Edward’s University and experience as a pediatric care nurse to make a difference in the world. Ruiz, a first-generation student, accepted her well-earned Biology degree at December Commencement and plans to become a neurosurgeon to help discover solutions for Craniosynostosis — a birth defect her younger sister is living with. Ruiz shared her story about her academic journey on the hilltop with The Austin American Statesman.
