Graduation Information

Students who anticipate graduating in the next term are responsible for completing the graduation application process via myHilltop. The application process opens with registration for the next term and closes on the official headcount day. Students who fail to meet certification deadlines will be required to apply to graduate during the following term. For specific deadlines, see the appropriate semester, listed below.

St. Edward's University holds two commencement ceremonies each spring. The morning ceremony is for traditional undergraduate students. The afternoon ceremony is for New College and graduate students. Specific commencement information can be found on Guidebook.

Applying to Graduate

  • In myHilltop, select the Academic Information tab, then Apply to Graduate (located under Academic Information).
  • Select the most recent term to determine curriculum for graduation and submit. This is NOT necessarily the term to which you are applying. The last term of attendance will be the most recent term for students who are not currently enrolled.
  • Confirm the curriculum for graduation. If this information is incorrect, do not go any further. Contact your school's Dean's Office or your graduate or New College advisor to have your information corrected, only then can you return to the Apply to Graduate screen.
  • If the curriculum is correct, select the radio button and continue. If you are graduating with multiple degrees or majors you MUST apply for each.
  • Select the Graduation Date for the term in which you intend to complete your degree and continue.
  • Your name will be printed on the diploma as it appears on your academic record. Any changes must be made with the Office of the Registrar.
  • Verify your application summary and SUBMIT request. You will receive confirmation that your application has been successfully submitted.
  • Your academic advisor will perform a final degree audit and confirm completion of all degree requirements. If your academic advisor determines you are ineligible to graduate in this term, you will be required to go through the application process for a future term.
