St. Edward’s Elevated to 8th place in the U.S. News & World Report’s List of Top Regional Universities

AUSTIN, Texas — St. Edward’s University rose to 8th place in U.S. News & World Report’s 2022-2023 Best Regional Universities in the West category. 

This is the 4th consecutive year that St. Edward’s ranks in the list of top 10 Best Regional Universities in the West.

“St. Edward’s delivers distinctive academics in a world class city,'' said President Montse Fuentes. “The U.S. News ranking recognizes the university’s excellent educational experience and learning opportunities for students from all backgrounds. Students are prepared to be ethical, community-minded leaders for a more just world.” 

In addition to its overall ranking, U.S. News ranked St. Edward’s #4 for Veterans and #6 for Undergraduate Teaching. The university was also included in the categories of Social Mobility and A+ Schools for B Students.

The U.S. News ranking is one of several national accolades that St. Edward’s has garnered in recent years. Most recently, St. Edward’s was noted as a top producer of 2021–2022 Fulbright U.S. Students who receive scholarships or grants to study, conduct research or teach abroad. Last year, St. Edward’s was named a Fulbright Hispanic Serving Institution Leader by the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. Also in 2021, St. Edward’s University was recognized by the same U.S. Department of State bureau for having produced the most Gilman award recipients during the past 20 years in the small institution 20-year overall Top Producer category. 

For 20 consecutive years, St. Edward’s has ranked in the U.S. News Best Colleges list. The methodology for the U.S. News regional ranking takes into account peer assessments, as well as criteria including class size, retention and alumni giving.

International Students and Moreau Scholars Emmanuel Epau '24, a Business Administration and Marketing major, and Shakib Wauyo '26, an Accounting major, spoke about starting school this fall, and how they plan to make the most of their time at St. Edward's to achieve their own goals, as well as to give back to their communities.
